Contract lifting requires careful planning and execution to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Key aspects include competent personnel, proper planning, and the use of appropriate equipment. Contract lifts are often chosen for complex or high-risk situations, where the client may lack the expertise or resources to manage the operation themselves

Competent Personnel

A qualified and competent Appointed Person (AP) is crucial for planning and supervising the lift. This person should have the knowledge, experience, and understanding of all aspects of the lifting operation. Additionally, a competent slinger/signaller and crane supervisor are also required.

Planning and Risk Assessment

Thorough planning, including a lift plan, method statement, and risk assessment, is essential. These documents should outline the safe system of work and address potential hazards.

Suitable Equipment

The crane used must be of a suitable type and capacity for the lift and should be properly maintained, tested, and certified. This includes ensuring the lifting equipment is of adequate strength and stability
