Founded by Shane Manssen, a seasoned subcontractor who saw the cost of skill shortages first-hand, Winlift was created to solve the very real, very urgent challenges facing construction sites across the UK. From its roots in waste-to-energy projects, the business has grown into a trusted national provider of recruitment, training, lifting consultancy, and compliance services.
What began five years ago as one man helping out on critical sites has grown into a full-service operation supporting some of the UK’s most ambitious engineering and infrastructure projects. Shane’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and problem-solving still runs through everything we do — and remains central to how we deliver success for our clients.
Today, we deploy skilled personnel across the country, meet complex project requirements under pressure, and help clients meet their deadlines without compromising on standards. We’ve also built a dedicated training department and offer full LOLER inspection services — giving our partners a complete, integrated solution under one roof.

With a career that began in the loading bays of Golden Wonder, I’ve always believed in the value of hard work and teamwork. Today, I’m proud to be part of a team that truly supports each other—no egos, just a shared commitment to getting the job done and having a laugh along the way. I bring honesty, integrity, and a deep appreciation for history and legacy, inspired by my great uncle’s service in WWII. One day, I hope to fly in a Spitfire to honor that spirit.
I started earning my keep at just age eleven on the milk round, so I’ve been dependable and ready to roll up my sleeves from the very beginning. Whether I’m tucking into a busy day or simply craving some quiet time, my superpower would be invisibility—because sometimes you just need to go about your business unseen. I describe myself in one word as caring, and I’m fueled by the strength of our support network: in our team, everyone truly matters. One of my long-held dreams is to finally go skiing—something I’ve always wanted to do before I’m “too old,” and I hope to make it happen soon.
I began my career as a nurse, where compassion became my compass and caring became second nature. If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to heal—so that everyone could be okay, both physically and emotionally. In just one word, I’d describe myself as compassionate. My enduring dream? To retreat in a peaceful, remote cottage by a lake with no Wi‑Fi or electronics—just pure serenity. What I deeply appreciate about our team is how genuinely understanding and supportive everyone is—always looking out for each other and making sure every voice matters.
I have a deep passion for Cape Town—it’s unquestionably my favourite holiday destination, with its stunning landscapes and rich culture. If I could choose any superpower. People often describe me, in one word, as OCD, a reflection of my drive for precision and excellence. I’m always looking ahead to my next adventure—taking a hot air balloon ride tops that list for me. What I truly value about our team is the relaxed working environment—where calm focus meets collaboration, and it feels good to be together.
